Welfare Board for Auto Drivers

PONDICHERRY: Auto Drivers and Workers affiliated to the Pondicherry unit of all India Trade Union Council (AITUC) led by V S Abishegam (the AITUC general secretary) held a demonstration on Friday.

At the end of a rally at the Assembly here he urged the Administration to set up a welfare board for the auto drivers and workers and distribution of subsidised petrol or diesel to the auto drivers to face the spiraling rise in prices of the fuel.

A detailed memorandum was submitted later at the office of the Chief Minister by a delegation of the Union of Auto Drivers.
