Pondicherry
Special Correspondent
Pondicherry : Collector of Pondicherry, G. Ragesh Chandra. has said that criminal action would be taken against those who erect cutouts or display banners without prior permission or valid licence. He also said action would be initiated against the offenders if they did not remove them before February 6. Mr. Chandra in a release here on Friday said though warnings were issued periodically to prevent the display of banners and other publicity material without licences, the practice continued. The authorities were removing them after issuing notices to those responsible. He said that there were also such instances even after the validity period of the licences had lapsed. The Collector said that if all such banners and cutouts were not removed before February 6, the municipal authorities would file complaints on February 7.
