Two policemen hurt as hand grenade goes off

ANANTAPUR : Alertness of a head constable averted a major mishap in Mudigubba police station in the district on Friday when a hand grenade exploded accidentally. The APSP head constable and a homeguard sustained blood injuries on their legs and were admitted to hospital.

According to the police, Chandrasekhar Maharajan, the head constable with the 14th APSP battalion near Tadipatri (No. 142), an instructor in the handling of hand grenades, was explaining about the lethal explosive to the homeguard, Nagaraju, on the terrace of the police station when it slipped off his hands accidentally.
