14 killed in accidents

Nursing students among victims

Sangareddy : Seven persons, including three women, died in a road accident on the National Highway near Aroor of Sadasivapet mandal on Friday. An Ambassador car, carrying students and parents of the Bidar-based Green India Educational Trust's Cambridge School of Nursing to Hyderabad to catch a train, hit an RTC bus coming in the opposite direction killing six persons on the spot. One of the passengers, Deepu John, 25, a nursing student died on way to hospital.

The dead, believed to be from Kerala, were identified as V.C. Sujatha, 18, Prissy Mathews, 18, Shincy Prithi Mathews, 19, and her father K.M. Mathew, P.M. Jhon, parent of a student studying in the same college, and driver Mohammad Maqbool of Bazarghatt, Hyderabad. The bodies were shifted to Sangareddy Government Hospital.

The police asked the college principal to inform their families in Kerala.

Fatal trip

ONGOLE : Five persons died and 12 others sustained injuries when a sever-seater they were travelling in hit a lorry at Thokapalli village in the district.

According to the police, some of villagers from Vadampalli hired the seven-seater to go to Thokapalli to watch a drama. The accident occurred when they were returning home.

The dead were identified as Jettiboyina Nagaiah, 40, Gunda Peda Venkatappaiah, 55, Gundarapu Venkateswarlu, 30, a teashop owner, Neelam China Satyam, 40, B. Venkatadri, 50.

Motorbike hits lorry

Kakinada : Two persons were killed in road accidents in the district.

Two students of the local JNTU College of Engineering, while returning from Samalkot Railway Station on a motorcycle, lost control of the vehicle and hit a lorry near the flyover, ADB road. While one of them -- Rachapolu Raviteja, 20, -- died on the spot, his friend Marriboyina Siva Kumar suffered injuries.

In another accident at Yerrampalem village of Rajavommangi mandal, a farm worker, Vuta Kannaiah, 50, died when he slipped off a tractor.
