Governor awards medals to NCC cadets

Lucknow: The Governor, T.V. Rajeswar, presented six Governor's Gold Medals and an equal number of silver medals to under officers and cadets of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) here on Friday.

The winning cadets hailed from Lucknow, Varanasi, Bareilly and Allahabad, official sources said here.

At a function organised in the Raj Bhawan to felicitate successful cadets of the State who participated in the Republic Day parade this year, Mr Rajeswar also presented colour to Varanasi `B' Group for its overall performance at the camp.

Later addressing the gathering, Mr Rajeswar said social service programmes and campaigns being carried out by the NCC should be sustained.

These could be used as effective tools to create social awareness among masses, he added. -- UNI
