NIZAMABAD: The Telugu Desam Party members staged a walkout from the first meeting of the Municipal Corporation of Nizamabad with the ruling party not conceding to their demand of postponing the meeting in view of the absence of members belonging to the minority community.

The meeting which began with Mayor D. Sanjay in the chair at 11.15 a.m., concluded within 30 minutes without discussing items listed on the agenda. With the agenda being read out the Congress members accepted it without demanding for deliberation.

It also passed a resolution amidst protests from the Opposition members on merging 12 surrounding villages with the corporation.

As a result, the Opposition led by the TDP later held a protest demonstration at the main entrance of the corporation for a brief period.

They said let the corporation be annulled instead of merging the villages into the corporation. Besides the TDP the BJP and the CPI(ML-New Democracy) members participated.
