Waitlisted railway passengers to be upgraded to the next higher class

South Central Railway scheme to come into effect from February 6

HYDERABAD: Waitlisted passengers will have the chance of being upgraded to the next higher class on available vacant accommodation for rail journeys with effect from February 6.

A South Central Railway (SCR) release said the trains to be covered under the scheme include all Rajdhani expresses no. 2723/2724 Hyderabad-New Delhi Andhra Pradesh Express, no. 7054/7053 Hyderabad-Chennai Express, no. 2393/2394 Patna-New Delhi Sampoorn Kranti Express, no. 2627/2728 Bangalore-New Delhi Karnataka Express, 2417/2418 Allahabad-New Delhi Prayag Raj Express, no. 2505/2506 Guwahati-New Delhi North East Express, no. 2801/2802 Puri-New Delhi Purshottam Express, no. 2955/2956 Mumbai-Jaipur Express, no. 2621/2622 Chennai-New Delhi Tamil Nadu Express, no. 2625/2626 Trivandrum-New Delhi Kerala Express, no. 2841/2842 Howrah-Chennai Coromandel Express, no. 2859/2860 Mumbai CST-Howrah Gitanjali Express, no. 2559/2560 Varanasi-New Delhi Shiv Ganga Express, no. 9143/9144 Mumbai-Ahmedabad Lok Shakti Express and no. 2901/2902 Mumbai - Ahmedabad Gujarat Mail.

The facility will be applicable only to waitlisted passengers who have booked tickets on full fare and not for those with concessional ticket including senior citizens and free pass holders.

No financial burden

The facility will be provided without any additional financial burden and for one class above only. Thus, a sleeper class ticket will be upgraded to 3 Tier AC/First Class, 3 Tier AC to 2 Tier AC to First Class AC.

Automatic

The upgradation will be automatic unless passengers specifically refuse to avail the facility by giving the `NO' option in the requisition form and the computerised reservation systems will automatically do this at the time of chart preparation.
