Power cut

CHENNAI: Power supply will be suspended in some parts of Anna Nagar, Alwarpet, Mylapore, Alandur, Muthialpet, Virugambakkam, Triplicane, Gopalapuram, Kilpauk, Pulianthope, Royapuram, Maduravoyal, V.O.C. Nagar, Thousand Lights, C.I.T. Nagar, Saidapet East, Tidel Park SS, T.Nagar, Sowcarpet, Purasawalkam, Government Estate, R.A.Puram and Chepauk from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday for maintenance work.

Fuse off call centre functioning

TNEB's Adyar section office and its fuse off call centre will start functioning at door no.62, Fifth Street, Padmanabha Nagar, Adyar from Monday.

Blood donation

A blood donation camp was organised by the Indian Red Cross Society at Lady Willingdon College in Triplicane on Tuesday.

Training in value addition of fruits

The Urban Horticulture Development Centre of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University will conduct a training programme on ``value addition of fruits and vegetables" next Thursday. Cassettes on Pamban Swamigal

Pambanswami Charitable Trust released audio cassettes and compact discs on the life of the saint at an event organised at Kalaivanar Arangam recently. The saint's samadhi in Thiruvanmiyur is being visited by hundreds of devotees every day, a press release said.

Several dignitaries participated in the event.

School cultural events

Students from 27 schools participated in K. Pakil Nadar Memorial cultural events organised by Amutha Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Mogappair East recently. They participated in oratorical, essay writing and Thirukural recitation competitions.

Woman relieved of gold

A 60-year-old woman was relieved of her gold chain weighing five sovereigns by a group of four women at Tambaram on Thursday. Saroja Ammal of Saidapet was waiting at Tambaram to go to Manimangalam. Four women picked up a conversation with her. As an MTC bus reached the bay, the victim boarded it, followed by the four women. But they got down. Only when the victim took a seat did she realise that the gold chain of hers was missing. Tambaram police are investigating.
