Thiruvananthapuram: The Lok Ayukta has issued notice to the Public Works Department and Kerala Water Authority seeking explanation on the tardy progress of the construction of a new bridge across the River Killi at Maruthankuzhi. Upa Lok Ayukta N.Krishnan Nair issued the notice on the basis of a private complaint quoting a report in The Hindu on January 24.
Local people are on the warpath against the 18-year delay in completing the project. Work on the bridge was abandoned half way through by the Kerala State Construction Corporation after constructing the pillars.
Lok Ayukata Justice K. Sreedharan and Upalokayukta Justice N. Krishnan on Friday started its hearing on a petition filed by president of All Kerala Ayurveda College Teachers Association.
