KOCHI: A total of 579 aspirants have been given offer letters for jobs at the ongoing Job Mart that is part of the IT Kerala 2006 show. A spokesman for the organisers of the show said here on Friday that another 1,549 had been short-listed by various software and ITES companies. The five-day IT Kerala show ends on Saturday. Friday was the first day for young people seeking jobs and who had not registered online for job interviews or tests. The spokesman said that a total of 6,731 candidates had registered for possible interviews or tests on Friday. IT Kerala 2006 has been organised as part of the Government of Kerala's efforts to showcase the State as a major emerging destination for investment in information technology and related areas. The show was divided into three major sections for the exhibition. A business-to-business session has been attracting those in need of business solutions. The Digital Lifestyle Expo concentrated on the latest gadgets available. The Job Mart has been the biggest draw and the organisers of the show, Kerala State IT Mission, had projected that about 25,000 young graduates and degree final-year students would attend. The curtains come down on what was billed as the second biggest IT show in the country on Saturday. The valedictory session begins at 9 a. m.
