Four of family die after consuming poison
The incident was brought to the notice of the police by passer-by in the afternoon. The bodies of Rajender, his daughters Sapna (18) and Rekha (15) and son Narender (12) were found lying in his farm land. At the time, Rajender's wife Santosh and his youngest daughter Rajni were at home. The police recovered a pesticide container from the spot. "We are trying to find out why Rajender and his children took such an extreme step," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-West Delhi) R.S. Yadav. While the police have initiated inquest proceedings in the matter, they are still awaiting to record the statement of Santosh.
Power theft detected
Stating that in the joint operation, involving BYPL Enforcement Teams and 15 policemen from the area police station, a series of raids were conducted in the theftprone Karawal Nagar, the BSES said in all four complexes were raided. The power company said in an industrial unit at C-40 Chairman Market in KhajooriKhas, it was found that 100 KW of power was being stolen from the nearby BSES LV mains. Likewise, it charged, in a 20 room residential complex at C-36, Lane No 1, Khajoori Khas, while all the rooms were occupied by tenants, there was not even a singly electricity meter and about 50 KW of power was being stolen from the nearby LV mains.
Four arrested
Acting on a tip-off provided by Inspector Rajeev Rattan that some criminals would come to the DDA Sports Complex at Dwarka Sector-11, the police laid a trap and intercepted the Maruti car in which the suspects were travelling. The two occupants opened fire at the police, who fired in retaliation. Subsequently, the two were overpowered. They were identified as Manish and Vikram Singh. At their instance, the police arrested their accomplices, Kuldeep Singh and Kamal Singh.
Cops booked
The Anti-Corruption Branch received a complaint from Ranjeet Singh, a conductor in an oil tanker, alleging that Constable Rajinder Prasad Tiwari had taken a bribe of Rs. 100 from him. Subsequently, he was arrested. At his instance, the police arrested ASI Dinesh Pandey, to whom he had given the money.
