Belgaum: Karnataka has entered a "new era" with Mr. Kumaraswamy taking over as Chief Minister, Suresh Angadi, MP, has said. Addressing presspersons here on Saturday, he said there are great expectations from Mr. Kumaraswamy, who is the youngest Chief Minister of the State. Mr. Angadi said an all-party delegation consisting of legislators will soon meeting the Chief Minister to urge him to hold a legislative session in Belgaum (once in year) as promised by the earlier government and former Chief Secretary B.S. Patil. He expressed confidence that the Janata Dal (Secular)-Bharatiya Janata Party coalition Government will be able to get clearance from the Centre on implementation of Kalasa-Banduri Nala diversion scheme across Mahadayi river. Mr. Angadi said that an all-party meeting will be held next week to pressure the Railway Ministry to concede he demands placed before it last year. One of the demands is to link Belgaum and Hubli with Sampark Kranti Express. To a question on the delay in implementation of a project to construct a railway under bridge near Kapileshwar and an overbridge on Old Pune-Bangalore Road in Belgaum city, Mr. Angadi said the project could not be implemented because the State Government and the Belgaum City Corporation failed to contribute their share though the Centre made budgetary provision of its share of 50 per cent of the total cost of project.
