`Karnataka developments augur well for BJP'

Party to go it alone in the forthcoming polls in two States: Venkaiah Naidu

TIRUMALA: Senior BJP leader and former party president M. Venkaiah Naidu said that the coalition government of the BJP-JD(S) combine in Karnataka would augur well for the party in its run-up to the elections due shortly to the two State assemblies in the south - Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

"For the first time we have formed our Government in the south and the tremendous boost it has given us would spur us into further consolidating our position south of the Vindhyas," Mr Naidu said in a brief chat with mediapersons at Tirumala where he arrived on a two-day pilgrimage.

He also asserted that the BJP would go it alone in the upcoming elections in the two States and said that the party would use the polls to widen its base.

On his future plans, Mr Naidu said that though he was not holding any post currently in the party, he would still try to provide good leadership and guide it in all its future programmes.
