Kakinada: Marla Babji, a general surgeon settled in Germany, has come forward to lend his helping hand for the development of the paediatric intensive care unit of the Government General Hospital (GGH) here. At a press conference held at the hospital superintendent's chamber on Saturday, Dr. Babji said he would be donating ten incubators each costing Rs. 21,000 to the hospital, which are of great help in saving the lives of premature babies and low weight babies. During every visit to the Port city, his birthplace, he was providing some equipment or the other to the hospital in a humble way. Subrahmanyam, paediatrician, said the incubators were the need of the hour as the mortality among the premature born and low weight infants could be minimised. At present they were forced to use the lights for `warming up `the babies.
