AOC Centre in semifinals

HYDERABAD: AOC Centre, Secunderabad entered the semifinals of the annual league basketball championship being conducted by the Hyderabad District Basketball Association by defeating APSRTC 68-19 in a quarterfinal match at Sanathnagar Playground on Saturday. At half-time AOC centre was leading 27-12. AOC will now take on YMCA Secunderabad in the semifinal to be played on Monday.

The superiority of AOC was never challenged by APSRTC which failed to put up a fight. The AOC trio of Siva Nagaraju, Irfan Khan and Sanjay scored repeatedly from fast breaks and RTC was ineffective in falling back to defend. By the end of the first quarter AOC was leading 18-7 and thereafter never relinquished its stranglehold on the match.

The score: AOC Centre 68 (Irfan Khan 14, Abdul Jaleel 13, Sanjay 11, Thomas 10) bt APSRTC 19.

Andhra Bank in final

Andhra Bank recorded a three-wicket win against BDL in the A-Division (one-day) knock-out cricket tournament semifinal at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium (Uppal) here.

The scores: BDL 214 (P.S.S. Bharath Kumar 63) lost to Andhra Bank 217 for seven (A. Nanda Kishore 80).

Shujath Ali shines

A good knock by Shujath Ali helped State Bank of Hyderabad `B' record an eight-wicket win against HSBC in the Corporate Cup cricket tournament here.

The scores: HSBC `A' 119 in 20 overs lost to SBH `B' 130 for two (Shujath Ali 65 not out).
