Madikeri: The modern system of education has aided the development of the country by ushering in economic prosperity, the former Minister G. Parameshwar said here on Saturday. Addressing a function to celebrate the anniversary of Sri Rajarajeshwari School, he said education has become an integral part of the development of the nation. Saying that education is the "main capital" of the Indian society, Dr. Parameshwar said India is the fourth largest progressive economy in the world. This is the view of the economic experts across the world. He said the last two decades saw the country make tremendous progress in various fields. Madikeri MLA K.G. Bopaiah, who presided over the function, favoured introduction of English in Government schools from first standard. It does not mean that Kannada should be neglected, he said. The president of the school, Govindaraj and M.M. Nanaiah, former minister spoke.
