TIRUCHI: The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam should not remain a silent spectator to the rumours on the fissures in the Democratic Progressive Alliance, State secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) N. Varadarajan said on Friday. "Hence, it is our appeal to the DMK leadership that the seat sharing arrangement, at least the numbers if not the constituencies to be allotted to the different parties, be finalised at the earliest," he saidat a press conference. The party had identified 25 constituencies where it had bright prospects, and the State Committee would meet in Chennai on February 6 and 7 to take a final decision. "We will meet the DMK leadership on February 8 and present a list," he said.
No truck with AIADMK
Ruling out any alliance with the All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, Mr. Varadarajan dismissed Chief Minister Jayalalithaa's announcement on the reinstatement of the "salai paniyalargal" as yet another sop announced with an eye on the Assembly elections. To a query on the feasibility of a third front, he said the party would welcome it, though there was no such possibility before the elections.
