Jeep driver convicted

BANGALORE: The II City Traffic Court has convicted and sentenced a jeep driver to one year's simple imprisonment and fined him Rs. 3,500 for causing a fatal road accident. The Banashankari traffic police had filed a charge sheet in the court stating that on May 21, 2003, the jeep driver Basavaraj had hit a scooter on Kanakapura Road. The scooterist, D. Narayana, was killed in the accident. The charge sheet said rash and negligent driving by Basavaraj had led to the accident.

Murder accused held

The MICO Layout police have arrested four persons who had allegedly murdered their accomplice following a dispute. Police said Sadiq alias Gandhi was bludgeoned to death at Shivanasamudram in September 2005 by his four accomplices Asif Pasha, Adil Pasha, Inthiyaz, Sadiq Pasha, Fayaz. The victim and his alleged killers were accused in several theft cases, the police said. The police have arrested four of the accused, while Fayaz is at large.

Recovered

The Yelahanka police have arrested Babu (19) of Chikkajala and recovered from him iron rods worth Rs. 45,000, which he had allegedly stolen from a construction site at Manchenahalli in their jurisdiction.
