BDA recovers

Rs. 20-cr. property

The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) has recovered property worth Rs. 20 crores which, it says, was illegally occupied, after a major demolition drive taken up from the early hours of Saturday.

A total area of 1.26 acres in Kachakaranahalli in HBR Layout, 1st Stage, 5th Block, was taken into possession by the BDA after demolition one building and 10 sheds.

The BDA Task Force carried out the operation with the assistance of the local police.

Workshop on sky watching

The Bangalore Association for Science Education (BASE) is conducting a three-day workshop on sky watching at the Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium on February 10, 11 and 12 between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. for those interested in observing celestial events. The last date for registration at the planetarium is February 8.

Lecture on e-learning on Monday

The Computer Society of India, Bangalore Chapter, is organising a lecture by Laveen N. Kanal of the University of Maryland on `Beyond e-reading-personalised knowledge organisation and e-learning.' The lecture will be at the CSI office at No. 134, Bhagwan Mahaveer Road (Infantry Road) at 6.30 p.m. on Monday.

Free medical check-up camp

B.R. Ambedkar Medical College and its Department of Community Medicine will conduct a free medical check-up camp on Monday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the M.G.N. INTECH School of Nursing, Somnahalli, near Nettigere on Kanakapura Road.

Showroom inaugurated

Film star and Rajya Sabha member Hema Malini on Saturday inaugurated the Gresca Showroom in Shivajinagar, selling imported ceramic tiles.

Talking to presspersons, she said the new Government should focus on improving Bangalore's infrastructure, especially the roads, which had deteriorated in the past few years.

Evening vet clinic

The Veterinary College Hospital, Hebbal, will open its evening clinic for animals, including pets, from February 7 from 4 p.m. to 9.30 p.m.
