Team Kollywood wins Arogya Cup

Ramana scored a brilliant century with nine fours and six sixes

CHENNAI: Actor Ramana proved his skill in wielding the willow by scoring a brilliant century in a fun-filled 30-over-a-side friendly cricket match between Tamil and Telugu film stars here on Saturday.

The stars gathered at the famous M.A. Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, for a day-night clash for the Arogya Cup.

Right from the word go, Ramana hit the ball hard, after actor Abbas, captain of the Kollywood side, won the toss and chose to bat.

Ramana's opening partner was Shaam.

The Kollywood team included actors Vishal, Shaam, Simbhu, Srikanth, Arya, Jeeva, Vikranth, Ramesh, Arunkumar and Ramana (wicket keeper).

The team from the Telugu filmdom included captain and wicket keeper Tarun Ayappa, Tarakarathna, Madalla Ravi, G.V. Sudhakar, Ragu, Vishnu, Srikanth, O. Kalyan, Rajesh and Ravishanker.

Ramana and Vikranth thrashed the bowling after Shaam got out for 2. Vikranth scored 56 before being bowled. In came Jeeva who scored 25 runs. Arya remained not out for 24 while Simbu, who just had one ball to face, was bowled for a duck. The Kollywood team ended up scoring 248 runs for five in the allotted 30 overs.

Ramana, who enjoyed his stint at the crease, got some bonus gifts. V-can, a marketing company announced a prize of Rs.1,000 for each boundary scored. Ramana's century had nine fours and six sixes. In the sidelines, actors Vindhiya, Mansooralikhan, singer Sinmayi and Sriman, cheered the Kollywood team. The Kollywood team won the Arogya Cup by 17 runs. Abbas said that he was planning for the Stars Cricket Match to be held in Dubai soon.
