Purandaradasa aradhana celebrated

BANGALORE: Sri Purandaradasa aradhana was celebrated as a mega musical festival at Hampi, the birthplace of the saint-composer, from January 27 to 29.

The programmes included `pancharathna kritis' of Purandaradasa rendered by reputed musicians such as N. Ramani (flute), M.S. Sheela, O.S. Thyagarajan, Shyamala Gopalan, V.L. Sudarshan, K. Vagheesh, Raja Rao (mridangam) on January 29.

The programmes were held at Purandara Mantap, Hampi, and also at Sri Venkateshwara Kalyana Mantapa at Hospet.

CD released

A compact disc (CD) comprising compositions of Purandaradasa was released on the occasion.

The CD has been brought out by Chennai-based musicians
