Stress on behavioural change

NEW DELHI: Delhi Lieutenant-Governor B.L. Joshi on Monday said there was a need to encourage behavioural change among the target group to fight the deadly AIDS.

Speaking at the regional training programme at the Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Narayan National Institute of Criminology and Forensic Science here, Mr. Joshi said drugs and HIV/AIDS had become a major developmental challenge and called for raising the overall effectiveness of State-level programmes.

Meet on human integration

NEW DELHI: World Council of Religions president Sant Rajinder Singh Maharaj on Sunday said the purpose of life was to know ourselves and find God within us.

He was speaking after inaugurating the 15th International Conference on Human Integration at Kirpal Bagh here, attended by 290 delegates from 38 countries. A seminar on "The Importance of Meditation for a Peaceful World" was also organised.

Health camp organised

NEW DELHI: G.M. Modi Hospital on Monday announced the opening of a free paediatrics check-up week at its premises here. During the week, the focus will be on detailed check-up of all infants' ailments.

The hospital's senior specialists will give free consultation and advice and infants who have registered for free check-ups would get discounts on all relevant investigations and treatment.

Cultural festival planned

NEW DELHI: Manthan, the two-day annual cultural festival of the Ansal Institute of Technology in neighbouring Gurgaon, begins this coming Friday. Many events have been planned for the occasion including fashion shows, cyber games, management quiz, folk dance, Western dance, debates, basketball, volleyball, choreography and skits. Popular Punjabi pop singer Jasbir Jassi will also perform.

The institutions expected to participate include IIT Delhi; NSIT Delhi; Delhi College of Engineering; National Law College; Amity Business School; Jaypee Institute of Information Technology, Noida; ITM Gurgaon; and College of Vocational Studies, Delhi.
