NEW DELHI: The Annual Plan for Madhya Pradesh was on Monday fixed at Rs 9,020 crores at a meeting here between Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia and State Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan. The Plan size is 21 per cent higher than last year's outlay and includes a one-time additional Central assistance of Rs. 80 crores for the State's priority projects such as Bhopal Gas Memorial, according to an official release here. During the discussions, Dr. Ahulwalia complimented the State for making significant progress in providing educational facilities while cautioning that under-utilisation of its irrigation potential remained a matter of concern. Emerging from the meeting, Mr. Chauhan told newspersons that his Government's priority for the new fiscal would be to ensure education, road-connectivity and irrigation for the masses. The State, he pointed out, had won accolades for ensuring fiscal discipline. The need of the hour, Mr. Chauhan said, was to gear up the administrative machinery so as to ensure optimum utilisation of funds made available to the State.
