CHANDIGARH: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Monday said that the Central Government has constituted a National Knowledge Commission to promote education. He was speaking at the annual function of Sri Dashmesh School at Bazpur in Uttranchal Pradesh. According to an official release issued here, Mr. Hooda stressed the need for bringing about qualitative change in the educational system. He also highlighted the significant role being played by educational institutions like schools and colleges in dispelling the darkness of illiteracy and said that it was their responsibility to ensure overall development of the students by making them strong in character and capable of meeting future challenges of life. He described Bazpur as mini India saying that the people hailing from different states had been living here in a very cordial atmosphere. He also paid rich tributes to Guru Gobind Singh and described him as a great visionary, philosopher, a true nationalist and an embodiment of secularism who founded Khalsa Panth. He appreciated the efforts being made by Sri Dashmesh School in infusing among the students the high ideals of Guru Gobind Singh. He also announced to give Rs. 11 lakhs for the construction of a hostel of the school. Mr. Hooda was presented with a shawl and a memento by Member Parliament and Chairman of the School, Gurjit Singh.
