Local Administration department website launched in Pondicherry

PONDICHERRY: Pondicherry Local Administration Minister A. Elumalai has said that the administration would spare no efforts to provided basic amenities to the citizens.

Commissioning a website of the Department of Local Administration on the premises of the century old French designed elegant premises of the Municipal Office (known in French as Mairie) here on Tuesday, Mr. Elumalai said that it had been the endeavour of the government to improve the infrastructures.

As a matter of fact over the last four years or so cement roads and also street lights were available in keeping with the decision of the government to cater for the basic amenities of the residents in the town and semi urban and also in rural areas.

He said that the website now commissioned would enable the people to access the municipal authorities for various particulars including the property taxes and also other aspects of their requirements.

Director of the Local Administration Department E. Vallavan, who welcomed those present said that the department was keen about improving the amenities for the people.

Commissioners of Pondicherry and Oulgaret Municipalities and officers of the municipalities were among those who spoke.

Later the Minister commissioned the mobile toilet unit introduced by the Pondicherry Municipality with an investment of Rs. 2.69 lakhs.

This would be operating on the beach road in view of the need for the visitors and tourists to the seashore.
