Deve Gowda termed anti-Lingayat

Staff Correspondent

HUBLI: All India Progressive Janata Dal (AIPJD) Working President B.R. Patil has alleged that Deputy Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa will be the next victim of the game plan of Janata Dal (Secular) President and former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda to suppress Lingayat leadership in the State. Mr. Patil appealed to Lingayat leaders here on Tuesday not to believe Mr. Deve Gowda. "Mr. Deve Gowda is not only anti-Dalit but is also anti-Lingayat," he said.

Mr. Patil alleged that Mr. Deve Gowda made M.P. Prakash Deputy Chief Minister only to ditch him midway and make his son Chief Minister.

He said the fall of the Congress-Janata Dal (Secular) led coalition in the State is the result of a well-hatched conspiracy of Mr. Deve Gowda. Mr. Deve Gowda's hesitation to initiate action against his son, H.D. Kumaraswamy, who has openly "rebelled" against his father, proves that Mr. Deve Gowda is the mastermind behind the whole drama, he said.

Mr. Patil said: "He (Mr. Deve Gowda) is ready to sacrifice even ideologies and values to stay in power". He appealed to the senior Janata Dal (S) leaders Prakash, P.G.R. Sindhia and D. Manjunath to come out of the clutches of Mr. Deve Gowda.

Mr. Patil termed the new coalition Government in the State as "the Government by fraud". "January 30 is the day when Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated. It is the day on which Hitler took hold of Germany. And now the coalition partners took a decision to form the new Government on the same day, which indicates that destructive politics is on the anvil," he said.
