NEW DELHI: The world's No. 1 search engine, Google, on Tuesday announced opening of its sales and marketing offices in New Delhi and Mumbai. The offices will cater to its growing business in India besides developing business opportunities and delivering advertising services to its users, advertisers and partners in the country. Stating that the two offices would complement the company's existing centres in Hyderabad and Bangalore, Google Inc.'s Vice-President (Asia-Pacific and Latin America operations) Sukhinder Singh Cassidy said: "The Google India team will forge relationships with businesses, partners and agencies throughout the region and enable them to take advantage of the tremendous growth in e-commerce. It will also help increase our advertising revenue by leveraging on local presence.'' The opening of the two offices was part of the Google's strategy to increase investment in India as its global support centre in Hyderabad and research and design centre in Bangalore were doing a good job, said Ms. Cassidy, adding: "Our aim is to provide more localised content to our Indian customers. Our new strategy will generate new business opportunities for us that also drive the local market." Google's advertisers in India include Citibank, Monster India, Bharatmatrimony.com, MakeMyTrip.com, SpiceJet, Kingfisher Airlines, ICICI Bank, Shaadi.com, eBay India, and Birla Sunlife. According to Google India's sales and operations head Ashish Kashyap, his team would focus on continuing to grow the company's client base and business relationships. "We see an opportunity in India for the company to partner with businesses through Google AdWords to make an impact on their growth,'' he added. On controversy over its new tool Google Earth, Ms. Cassidy said the company, which had already withdrawn the service, was sensitive to local concerns and issues. "We are making certain changes in Google Earth so that the safety and other concerns of various governments could be addressed,'' she added.
