French author eyes Indian readers

Political science teacher-turned-writer Pascal Bruckner was among the many people who visited the recent New Delhi World Book Fair at Pragati Maidan that attracted over a million players to the lavish spread it offered to book lovers coming here from around the world.

The French author -- who has to his credit several books including the much-read `The Divine Child' and will also visit the Kolkata Book Fair -- had this to say about the new opportunities available to emerging writers: ``The very dynamic world of words is undergoing a huge change with borders evaporating and several previously closed communities inviting in thoughts and ideas.''

All set to work on his new book that deals with "the worst mistakes in history that Europe has to live with", Mr. Bruckner is keen on making the book accessible to Indian readers, especially in regional languages. Speaking about his plans for his latest book he said: "I am definitely looking for someone who can translate and bring the book to India, which is currently growing very fast to become one of the very important markets for writers the world over.'' -- Bindu Shajan Perappadan
