Women recite slokas to spread message of national unity

SHIMOGA: Sri Prasanna Ganapathi Temple at Ravindra Nagar here on Tuesday reverberated with hymns when over 600 women belonging to various organisations mellifluously presented in chorus the "Sankar Sandesh" comprising the slokas and stotras composed by Adi Sankaracharya in the musical form.

Fitting finale

The occasion was the "Sankar Saraswati-Sankar Sandesh", which was organised by Vedanta Bharathi to spread the message of national unity and integrity. The event, which was held under the guidance of Sri Shankar Bharathi Swamy of Sri Yoganandeshwara Saraswati Math of Yadatore came as a fitting finale to the 40-day group recitation of the "Sankar Sandesh" by women at 12 places in the city.

Industrialist T.V. Narayana Sastry inaugurated the programme.

Honorary presidents of the Organising Committee B. Venkatarao and M. Bharadwaj, and the Secretary of Nirmala Kashi, H.S. Nagaraj, were present.
