SHRAVANABELAGOLA: Trilok Nath Perti, General Manager, South Western Railway, has said that the new broad-gauge line between Hassan and Shravanabelagola will help Jain pilgrims visiting this pilgrimage centre for the Mahamastakabhisheka, which will begin on Wednesday. Participating in a function organised to inaugurate the new railway line and Shravanabelagola Railway Station, he said the Railways will operate a number of special trains to this important pilgrimage centre. The special train services, starting from Tuesday, will continue till February 22, he said. South Western Railway ran 2,144 special trains till the end of January, he said. The Bangalore Division of South Western Railway bagged the "UTS Division of the Year" award for 2004-05, he added.
