Even those who shun worldly attractions are sometimes forced to covet certain essentials. Take the case of the Dadars, people who renounce almost everything and dedicate themselves to praising the lord, especially the Kalyana Venkatramana Swamy at Thanthonrimalai shrine in Karur. These Dadars used to blow conch during pujas and special occasions or rituals in the vicinity of the temple. The Dadars' Association, with a membership of around 450, held a meeting near the temple on Tuesday in which they highlighted their one-point agenda: getting sanction for a choultry near the temple for them. The Dadars claimed that they had submitted more than 25 petitions to the Collector and sought the intervention of politicians of all hues but to no avail. As they say, "in god we trust." More than placing trust on matters mundane, these Dadars carry on with the hope.
