All-India cultural collective to begin

Resisting ill-effects of globalisation

ALAPPUZHA: An all-India cultural collective, being organised by the Right to Work Campaign Committee, will be held here from February 8 to 11, general convener of the reception committee V. Mohan Das has said.

At a press conference here on Tuesday, Mr. Das said the theme of the collective was `Development politics and cultural resistance.'

The ill-effects of globalisation could be resisted only though a cultural collective of the working class.

Leaders of the Left and progressive movements from all over the country would participate in the collective, the organisers said.

The collective would begin with a meeting of the action council. An all-India cultural meet would be held on Thursday. P. Govinda Pillai, Communist Party of India (Marxist), would deliver the keynote address at the meeting. Leaders of Left and progressive movements from all over the country would present papers.

A public meeting would be held on the municipal ground. CPI (Maoist-Leninist) Liberation secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya would inaugurate the meeting.

A Gandhian-Marxian-Ambedkar thought deliberation meeting would be held at Brothers' Auditorium here from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday as part of the council.
