Indian Bank triumphs

Namakkal: Chennai teams Indian Bank and Rising Star BC post easy wins over their opponents and emerged the men's and women's champion of the 15th State-level basketball tournament at the South School grounds here on Sunday night.

In the final league clash, the bank men dashed the hopes of Southern Railway 68-44, while Rising Star women notched up a 65-40 win over All Star Basketball Club (Chennai).

Earlier, the ICF men humbled BSNL 82-63 to finish for the third spot.

The results (final league):

Men: Indian Bank (Che) 68 (Dinesh 15, Thangadurai 14) bt Southern Railway (Che) 44 (Bernard Philips 17, Pasupathy 11).

Third place: ICF BBC (Che) 82 (Aswin 38, Sikkantar 14) bt BSNL BBC 63 (Raja 13, Sivarajan 12).

Women: Rising Star BBC (Che) 65 (Laxmi Devi 23, Gokila 16) bt All Star BBC (Che) 40 (Mahalaxmi 14, Preethi 10). Third place: Vayudooth BBC (Che) 46 (Selva Jansi 18, Prabha 12) bt Golden Eagle (Che) 40 (Rajalakshmi 15, Ramya Devi 10).
