VISAKHAPATNAM: Kasi Rao of West Godavari and K. Mercy of Kurnool won the men's and women's titles in the 15th seniors inter-district triathlon championships held here on Sunday. The competition included 750m swimming, 20km cycling and 5 km run. The results: Men: 1. Kasi Rao (West Godavari, 1 hr 04 secs), 2. R. Arun Kanth (Krishna, 1 hr 6 secs), 3. G. Dhana Raju (VSP 1 hr 9 secs). Women: 1. K. Mercy (Kurnool 1 hr 29 min), 2. P. Savitri (VSP 1 hr 40 min), 3. A. Devi (1 hr 45 min).
Stephen, Bhavani felicitated
The District Basketball Association congratulated J. Stephen and Behara Bhavani on their selection to the State men's and women's basketball teams respectively. AP will participate in the South Zone championships to be held at Kottayam from February 22 to 26. While the CMD of APEPDCL, G. Sai Prasad, felicitated the two players, the DBA extended financial assistance to them to attend the State camp being held in Hyderabad.
Beek wins
Mahendra Beek (handicap 0-8) won the golf tournament conducted by the Paradip Golf Club at Paradip. Other winners: K.S. Mohanty (handicap 19-24), Oscar Dung Dung (longest drive and nearest to pin), Sanjukta Samal (ladies putting), Abhishek Ekka (children's putting), and Augustine Ekka (best gross).
