MYSORE: `Training of the Trainer,' a driver management programme, was organised here on Tuesday by Regional Transport Office and Institute of Road Traffic Education. This is part of an effort to improve the quality of traffic education in driving schools in the city. Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner of Police Praveen Sood said none of the over 20 driving schools in the city are equipped with trainers who have enough knowledge on traffic rules.
Need of the hour
"Driving schools should not restrict themselves to training drivers for the purpose of obtaining licence alone, but should impart traffic education, which is the need of the hour," he said. Mr. Sood said it is unfortunate that most drivers are unaware of the signboards put up by the city traffic police, spending more than Rs. 40 lakhs. "There is a need to understand the differences among triangular, circular and rectangular sign boards and traffic lines." In view of the increasing traffic density, following traffic rules is essential.
