CHENNAI:
Concepts in e-banking and e-filing of returns were discussed at a conference organised recently here by the Information Technology committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), Southern Region.
K.C. Chakrabarty, chairman and managing director of Indian Bank, said that technology had made it easier to keep track of vital information such as credit card numbers, transactions, savings and withdrawals.
Santhosh Datta, chief commissioner of Income Tax-3, said that e-filing of returns would gain popularity as it makes the job much simpler.
IT chairperson Madhubala Nahar said more informative programmes and help-desks should be made available by the IT department to familiarise people about e-filing of returns.
Mahendra Kumar Garg, chairman-managing director, United India Insurance Company, was the chief guest.
