Allotment of social security number begins

CHENNAI: The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has started allotting national social security number for all its pensioners, including pensioners under the 1995 Employees' Pension Scheme.

Regional PF Commissioner A. Mahendra Raju said that the allotment would lead to faster release of pension through ECS and transfer of pension account from one bank to another. The card would also serve as an identity document, he added.

The Commissioner appealed to the pensioners to approach their banks for application forms.

Last date for filling up the forms is March 31. For details, contact officials of the EPFO at 044-28130085 or 9444283330.
