Caught napping

ADILABAD : Talwala Rajeshwar, a sleepyhead burglar found to his peril that lack of alertness is not worth the while in his profession. He was literally caught napping by the II Town police while on the job in the early hours of Tuesday.

According to the police, Rajeshwar, a resident of Ichoda mandal, broke into the locked house of an advocate at Vidyanagar locality. He rummaged through all that he could and went to sleep with the lights on.

A tenant of the building woke up due to the noise created by Rajeshwar and was surprised to find the light on. The advocate was known to have gone out of station. He soon informed some in the colony who in turn alerted the police. The police arrived and found Rajeshwar to be sleeping. He was arrested.

Meanwhile, in another burglary, silver articles worth about Rs. 10,000 were reported to have been stolen from a house in the local HB colony. According to the police, the offence was committed on Monday afternoon as the house was locked.
