CHENNAI: Indian engineers should work creatively and innovatively for the country's development. At the same time, they should not lose the ethics of Indian society, said V.S. Arunachalam, Vice-Chairman, Tamil Nadu State Planning Commission. In spite of many invasions and troubles of the past "we are still able to prove ourselves better; this is because our country has deep roots in virtues, which needs to be strengthened by our educated society," he said while delivering the convocation address at Velammal Engineering College here on Saturday. "From being an imitative nation, our country is now transforming to an innovative nation. Graduates of this age are blessed as they are going to meet challenges while national, global and their interests match each other. India, with its a phenomenal growth is now considered as a competitor to the United States. This credit is due to our knowledge base," he said. T. Kannan, Managing Director, Thiagarajar Mills Limited, in his special address, said success could be attained through expertise, but significance could be attained only from the values one imparted in life.
