NEW DELHI: To draw attention to the declining sex ratio in the country and involve the youth in creating awareness about the issue, a rally would be taken out in the North Campus on Wednesday by Delhi University students. Organised as part of a two-day awareness camp being held for North Campus students by the Centre for Women Development Studies with support from the National Commission for Women, the rally would bring together students from various Delhi University colleges and representatives from non-governmental organisations working in the field of women empowerment. While revealing that a number of students have participated in the workshop, a Centre for Women Development Studies spokesperson said the idea was to shift the focus on youngsters as they have a major role to play in bringing about a change. "We believe that if we focus on students and create awareness about the declining sex ratio, we can sensitise them to take up responsibilities. After all, we need to go beyond normal classroom teaching to create more awareness about the issue. Also, students are responding very well to the workshop which only goes to show that public orientation is a must," said the spokesperson. While this workshop will focus on students from North Campus colleges, another workshop is planned for students of colleges from the South Campus. The rally will commence at the Vivekanand Statue between Arts Faculty and Central Library.
