Holiday

A Tamil Nadu Electricity Board release says that February 9 will be a holiday for Moharram instead of February 10.

Programme

Kamban Kazhagam will celebrate Kamban Vizha 2006 from February 10 to 12. Speakers from Salem, Erode and the Nilgiris districts will participate in the programmes this year, according to a release.

Power shutdown

There will be no power supply in the following areas on February 9 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. owing to shutdown of 15. Velampalayam sub-station for maintenance work:

Athupalayam, Anupparpalayam, Anupparpalayampudur, Ammapalayam, 15. Velampalayam, Periyar Colony, Chettipalayam, Venkamedu, T.P. Colony, A.V.P. Layout, A.G. Palayam, Mahavishnu Nagar, Thilagar Nagar, T.M. Poondy, Boyampalayam, SakthiNagar, Pandiyan Nagar, Nehru Nagar, Guruvyurappan Nagar, Nanjappa Nagar, Lakshmi Nagar, Indra Nagar, Pichampalayam Pudur, Kumaran Nagar.

No water supply

There will be no water supply in Tirupur town on February 8 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. owing to a power shutdown at the pumping station in Mettupalayam, a municipality release said.

Decision

The Aandipalayam Green Park Promotion Trust has decided to widen and deepen the Aandipalayam tank near Tirupur to increase its storage capacity.

The executive committee of the Trust recently resolved to promote the tank as a tourist attraction by establishing a park and boat house with the help of Government.
