One killed in accident

Thiruvananthapuram: A 65-year-old man was killed and eight persons were injured in separate accidents in the city on Tuesday.

Sukumaran alias "Mysore" Sukumaran, was killed when he was hit by a van on the National Highway at Thonnackal around 5.30 p.m. He was rushed to the Medical College Hospital in Highway Patrol vehicle. The body was being kept at the MCH mortuary.

Eight persons were injured when the KSRTC bus in which they were travelling dashed against a tree at Karipur in Nedumangadu taluk.

Held under Arms Act

The Thumba police have arrested a 23-year-old youth on the charge of violating the Arms Act. The police identified the accused as Rajendra Babu of Manvila. An official said he was found carrying a sword near Arasanmoodu junction on Monday night.
