BANGALORE: A high-level delegation from Japan, led by Hirokouji Yoshioka, Mayor of Miyoshi City in Hiroshima Province, on Tuesday visited the Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP). Senior officials from the BMP apprised them about the development activities taken up by the civic body. During the interaction with officials, Mr. Yoshioka said the delegation chose Bangalore for its visit to study the growth of information technology in the city. "Miyoshi city is one of the major IT centres of Japan. In this context, we are looking forward to take up new initiatives by studying the phenomenal growth of information technology industry in Bangalore," he said. "For the mutual benefit of both Miyoshi and Bangalore, we are exploring new avenues in Bangalore with which we can collaborate for the city's development," Mr Yoshioka said.
When the former Mayor C.M. Nagaraj, who was present at the interaction, wanted to know the solid waste management techniques adopted by cities in Japan, Mr. Yoshioka said that segregation of 13 different kinds of waste at source helps in proper disposal of solid waste.
