Staff of cooperative societies plan agitation

Special Correspondent

PONDICHERRY: Employees of cooperative societies will stage a demonstration in front of the Assembly here on February 23, when the House will meet to pass a vote on account.

Talking to presspersons on Wednesday, C.H. Balamohanan of the Confederation of Government Employees Associations, T. Murugan of the CITU, R. Balaraman of the INTUC and I. Dinesh Ponniah of the AITUC said the Government had been unnecessarily delaying the implementation of the Fourth Pay Committee report that recommended a wage increase.

They are convenors of the joint action committee of the Associations of Employees

The employees were also demanding that they be given the status of government employees, a welfare board be set up and a pension scheme introduced for them.

The joint action committee of the Associations of Employees has also been planning to stage a demonstration in front of the Secretariat on February 13.
