ALAPPUZHA: The body of Keralite jawan (rifleman) Anilkumar (28) of Assam Rifles who had been killed in an encounter with Naga militants at a forward post at Peren district in Nagaland on February 4, was brought to the district headquarters from the Nedumbassery airport by around 8 p.m. on Wednesday. It was later placed at his ancestral home, Kalathil house, at Takazhi for a few minutes. Later it was taken to the his present home, Alathara house at Karuvatta in the district, for creamtion. A large number of people, including officials of the Indian Army, employees of the district administration and leaders of political parties paid homage to the body of Mr. Anilkumar at Takazhi. Alappuzha Additional District Magistrate Vijayasankar and Chengannur RDO P.S. Velayudhan laid wreaths on the body on behalf of the State Government at Takazhi. Haripad MLA T.K. Devakumar accompanied the body to Karuvatta. See also Page 11
