Zakir Hussain takes title
NEW DELHI: Host and defending champion Zakir Hussain College retained the title in the Zakir Hussain inter-collegiate football tournament, beating Moti Lal Nehru College (Evening) 6-5, via the tie-breaker, after the teams were locked 1-1 at the end of regulation time in the final here on Wednesday.
Gangmlung Kamei put the host ahead in the fourth minute and Amit Rawat equalised for the Moti Lal Nehru team during the injury time of the second half.
In the tie-breaker, Kamei, D. Jinthailung Kabui, Angom Saran Singh, Lalit Singh and Naresh Sharma converted for Zakir Hussain. Irfan Jamal Khan, Sanjay, Pradeep and Amit were successful for the loser.
The Fairplay Trophy was presented to Hamdard University. — Special Correspondent
