CHENNAI
: The Central Crime Branch police arrested three persons on Wednesday on charges of producing fake documents to get credit cards.
M. Deenadayalan (22), S. Selvaganesh (21) and R. Venugopal (19) of Ambattur were charged with creating the fake documents. These were submitted to three private banks and a nationalised bank to obtain credit cards. With the cards they had withdrawn cash. A few days ago, Ramasamy (30), Regional Risk Manager of HDFC Bank, filed a complaint with Greater Chennai Police Commissioner R.Nataraj stating that the three got five credit cards from his bank by producing fake documents. They were issued `gold cards,' with which they could withdraw up to Rs. 1 lakh, police said.
The Crime Branch investigated the case and arrested them. Police recovered Rs. 53,000 and jewellery worth about Rs. 20,000 from the accused.
A senior police officer said they had 13 credit cards and withdrew cash amounting to Rs 13 lakhs. With the money they had started a fast food outlet and a computer firm.
