KADAPA: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams Board has approved the proposal to take over Sri Lakshmi Venkateswara Swamy temple at Devunikadapa, board member M. Navaneeswara Reddy said on Wednesday. Recalling that the proposals were put forth a year ago, he said that the TTD had agreed on Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy's directions. The dilapidated TTD `kalyana mantapam' at Devunikadapa would be dismantled and a new one built there at a cost of Rs. 60 lakhs, he said. Next year's Brahmotsavam at the temple would be conducted systematically by the TTD, he said.
Annamayya statue
The TTD also approved the proposal to develop Tallapaka in Rajampet mandal, the birthplace of saint Annamacharya, Mr. Navaneeswara Reddy said. A statue of the saint was ready for installation, he said. Roads in Tallapaka were already widened, link roads and drains constructed. A garden was being developed in the village. Two metallic arches would be put up on way to Tallapaka, he said. The TTD would develop a pathway for trekkers from Mamandur to Tirumala.
