Techofes `06 ... four days of non-stop fun on the cards

Special Correspondent

Organisers say this year's show will be bigger and better

CHENNAI: Over 3,000 young men and women from across the country will assemble at the College of Engineering, Guindy (CEG), for the college's four-day annual cultural show `Techofes' starting Friday.

If the organisers are to be believed, this year Techofes `06 will be "bigger and better." They also promise four days of a non-stop fun-filled array of events.

The participants will come from 300 colleges, most of them in and around the metropolis.

With over 35 events, Techofes offers a varied fare. From quizzes to music competitions, debates to dance competitions, and dumb charades to variety show, Techofes is multi-flavoured.

The best of minds will battle for the honours in the quizzing events. The event, say the organisers, carries a quizzing legacy. Onstage events run through the day on all four days.

Girls will reveal their artistic talent in drawing mehendi patterns, collage making, flower arrangement, face painting, rangoli and so on.

Photographers too will get their share of glory at the fest.

The festival organisers have also organised traditional events such as debates, shipwreck, extempore and poetry writing in both English and Tamil, and dumb charades, ad zap and treasure hunt to name a few.

Techofes awaits the king and the queen of the event, who will be crowned Mr. and Ms. Techofes on the grand night.

Highlights of the fest

The highlight of the festival of youth is, of course, MUSIC.

An evening of wholesome music by the best of musical minds competing at the open air theatre is on its way.

The place will resonate with the crowd humming and chanting in reply to the sound of musical instruments, and students rocking, rapping and singing melodiously. Choreo-Nite, Adaptuse and group Choreao will have the open air theatre overflowing with cheering youngsters and the atmosphere sizzling with dancers swinging to the music.

One cannot miss the variety show: a perfect event to exhibit one's talent.

It promises to be a matrix of multitalented geniuses, who will have 15 minutes to grab the attention of the audience by exhibiting their talent on anything and everything.

Here, more often than not, creativity surpasses even the weirdest of minds to entertain the audience.

The surprise element will come in the form of a leading musical band of the city, which will be the highlight of the professional light music shows.

Moreover, to spice it all up will come professional dancers, who will set the stage ablaze with their performance.
