VIJAYAWADA: The Communist Party of India, along with other Left parties, will stage dharna to register their protest during the visit of George W.Bush, President of the United States, to Hyderabad in March. CPI State secretary K.Narayana said here on Thursday that Mr Bush had made the toppling of democracies the primary preoccupation of the USA. Afghanistan was followed by Iraq and now the guns were trained at Iran. Left parties would launch a three-day State-wide campaign to educate people on the "ills" of the Bush Administration on March 1.

`No clear policy'

CPI activists would take out rallies and stage dharna all over the country to highlight the increase in the prices of essential commodities on February 22, Dr Narayana said. He said an artificial scarcity had been created to jack up the prices of essential commodities. The prices could be brought down by market intervention. The Central Government had no policies to regulate the prices of essential commodities, which play havoc with the lives of the poor.

The CPI was launching a padayatra on March 1 to 15 to identify the problems of the people. Padayatras would be organised in all mandals, Dr Narayana said.
